Second Piercings

I have had my ears pierced since fourth grade, and lately I have been wanting a second piercing above them. My mom has two piercings, the upper ones she keeps the diamond studs that my dad gave her in, and the bottom ones she wears hook earrings. My mom said that when I got enough money, I could get the second piercings. Finally today I did. Since I have already gotten my ears pierced, I kind of knew what to expect, except this time was a lot less painful. I still needed to sit down afterwards though because I get really queasy and faint at the sight of needles or anything piercing my skin. But, now it's done, and it's really neat in my opinion!

Tips for getting your ears pierced:
- Save up your money, it can be expensive
- Get either gold or silver if you are unsure about how sensitive your ears might be
- Get parental permission, and bring them with you because they'll need to sign a waiver
- Go somewhere that pierces your ears safely and properly (I went to Claire's)
- Take good care of your ears (i.e. clean them often, wait the appropriate amount of time before changing earrings, etc....)
- When the six weeks are up (when you can change studs) make sure you keep earrings in otherwise your piercing might start to close up

That's about it. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

While we were at Claire's I also saw this adorable hat! Ir's definitely going on my Christmas List!

Homemade Nail Polish.... kinda

Hey guys! As you may already know, I really like nail polish, it's kind of like a form of art if you think about it ;) , and I love colors, especially mixing them! So I decided to make my own nail polish. I've done so before, but with a different technique, involving clear polish and eyeshadow pigments, (I'd be happy to make a tutorial on that as well if you guys would like one) but then I found a different technique on the internet. Here it is:

What you'll need:
-nail polish (white or a light color, if you want you could try clear too)
-food coloring (be sure not to use it in your food once you've used it in your nail polish)

Because I did not have any white nail polish that I wished to mess up, I used a light pink polish by e.l.f.
(I also don't have a before picture.... but it was just a light pink)

Then, I took my yellow food coloring and poured quite a few drops directly into the bottle (the more drops, the darker)

Then I just shook it up for a while until it mixed.

This is what I ended up with:

Yup. Show me how your's turned out!

Whoa

Sorry I haven't been blogging lately, I've been busy and there's been a lot going on. Here's a little bit about what's happened recently:

-School. Bleh :P
-More school
-Orchestra concert :3
-I started making paper (which I'll have a tutorial on)
-Yeah....

I also bought theses adorable puzzle erasers:

Yes yes, I am an obsessive Angry Birds player sometimes ;)

I also finally got a chair for my desk! We re-did my room this summer, but we've still been working on finishing touches and I was lacking a chair, we finally found this one at OfficeMax and it's super comfy!

Outfit of the Day- Girly yet Edgy Vintage

I have just now realized that a lot of outfits I wear are girly and edgy at the same time O.O I did not know that....
Anywho, this is the outfit I wore yesterday. It incorporates a shirt my mom used to wear. She put it in with my dress-up clothes when I was little and I loved it- I always felt like a princess wearing it. (it used to fit me like a dress) Then last year I found my dress-up stuff in a closet and I re-found this shirt! I still love it! I tried to get some pics of me posing outside (yeah, I'm a nerd) but it was way too cold out. Is it getting cold where you guys live?

What I wore:
Hand me down shirt, skinny jeans from JCPenney, Black heels from American Eagle for Shopko, hand me down earrings, and an owl watch necklace from Claire's

What kinds of styles do you guys tend to wear?

Edgy Nail Tutorial (for lack of a better name)

I went to a party on Friday and we played a murder mystery game (cue spooky noises!) We each had our own characters and had to dress up and so forth.... Here's what I did for my nails, I'll show you my outfit on tomorrow's post.

I used:
Nabi Nail Art in Black (base coat)
Icing Nail Polish in Golden Touch (second base coat)
Mia Secret Crackle Nail Polish in White (crackle stripe)
Nail Treats Nail Polish in uh, something (glitter stripe)

Here's what it looked like: (please excuse the messiness, I took the picture right when I finished)

First I applied Nabi to all of my nails and let that dry. Then I painted Golden Touch over top. I left these to completely dry before adding a crackle stripe-thingy to the corner of my nails, and I finished with a stripe of the Nail Treats Nail Polish on the line between the crackle and the black. If you have a top coat, I would highly suggest using it so your look lasts longer.

Enjoy!

If you have any questions or something to say please comment!

Uh.... My first post!

Hey guys it's Anna, your new blogger! I'm pretty new to this so we'll see how this works out.... Basically, I will probably blog about random things in life. Most of my posts will probably be either about style, art, or writing. Exciting huh? I guess I should kind of introduce myself....

I live in Idaho (yes.... I'm a potatoe person)
I love both pirates and cats (hence the blog name)
My favorite color is blue (random fact)
I am learning French, Greek, and maybe sometime Russian
I can be really random and weird, yet really quiet at the same time.
My friends would describe me as nice, responsible (sometimes too responsible apparently :3), weird, random, sometimes crazy, shy at times, and so on and so forth

Hmm, this isn't the best introduction but I guess you'll learn more about me as I start to blog and stuff.

Au revoir for now,
A S
